So, i think i learnt something today, when you try and follow your heart with matters of your creative life and strive to be original you'll almost always be faced with disappointment at some point, but if you stay strong this should never lead to compromise. That is to say compromise isn't a bad thing under certain circumstances, such as when something you're trying to pull off is physically impossible, but rather you should never let people discourage you from making something you love. Just for the record that was a reminder to me, not me using this blog as some kind of soap box for the, what, 5 people that follow this blog :D Also i just wanted to post something here so i wouldn't go yet another day without adding to it.
Obligatory artwork time! this time it's some sandalwood, go sandalwood!

More today things
A friend of mine who's sprawled out on my living room floor right now playing the new call of duty (it's amazing by the way) reckons i'd get more attention drawing things i never usually draw. contemporary styles and whatnot. I like the idea of every post on here having to have a picture with it, so here's one i just did now following that advice.
Fyi i hardly EVER draw people!

TODAY
I got a letter through the post this morning for $1000, pretty neat no? It was for a job i did a while ago where i made a little alteration for a version of my flash game (oh yeah i make games too) for shockwave. This should help cover the job hunt for a while depending on how much of that i loose in the transfer. Still no word back from some people i mailed about jobs but it is only 12:15 so i'll let them off...
I cant really think of much else to say so i'll just post a link to the game, whynot.
haha, reading the comments I think it's really funny how hard to please some people are!

The adventures of Adam 'Squirrel' Westerman
So, for the last few months i've been working in retail as a means of supporting myself while i take my first feeble steps into the world of freelance art, and what have i to show for it? just enough money to pay the rent and no enthusiasm to draw anything, EVER! Also i've caught some horrible throat thing from work having no air conditioning, criminal i say. SOMETHING needs to be done about this.
Let me recap, I'm Adam, i've spent all my life doodling on things and getting in trouble for it (apart from by my parents, they're actually very cool with it) I LOVE art, it's one of those things that gets me out of bed when everyone else is crashed out because I've got ideas flowing out of me, atleast i think it's ideas... *sniffs blanket* OH a joke! It got me through my art and design course at college with flying colours though, and my animation course at university to boot! I'd always thought when i got out of uni the world would open up with opportunities and i'd be able to carry on doodling, only now i'd be able to make a living out of it and meet loads of cool people on the way. Oh how they would clap when they saw me doodle out a spider wearing a coat, or a snake eating a curry. Yes sir, adult life seemed like an Adventure filled path paved in gold...
So far it hasn't turned out quite as i'd envisaged when i sat down in my little dribble covered high chair with my first crayon filled sketchbook at the age of 18.
So, Back to the present, here i am sat at my living room table, in front of my crayon covered laptop at half 1 in the morning and, ladies and gentlemen, I've decided to do something about all this, NO MORE shall i waste my God given talent to doodle on things, NO MORE shall i feel a reluctance to face another day restocking a shop with fleeces that people are only going to return a week later because of "poor stiching" or "exploding zippers". Yes thats right, I Adam Squirrel Westerman will find a job in the industry that will excite me and get me out of bed in the morning! And this here blog will be a window into my struggle to make it happen.
I'm going to leave you with a drawing i did earlier today from a game i want to make one day:
